CURT ONALFO

MPS Technical Director. Regarded as one of the most accomplished and successful coaches in the nation, currently serving as the Assistant Coach of the US Men's National team under Bruce Arena.

Curt brings extraordinary credentials to our MPS and travel-training program.
Curt's accomplishments include:
All American in high school
All ACC at the University of Virginia under Bruce Arena
and a Herman Trophy candidate in 1990;
co-captain of the US Olympic team in 1992
a professional player in France and Mexico in the 1990s
and, later, with the LA Galaxy, the San Jose Clash and DC United.
Curt has been a soccer coach for over 17 years, which includes his position as an Assistant Coach for DC United.

MPS coaches are highly skilled and experienced professional coaches with USSF "A" or "B" licenses, or their equivalent, and extensive coaching and playing experience. Additionally, MPS provides functional training for all MPS players. This comprises advanced instruction in footwork, including first touch and dribbling; finishing, including shooting and decision making in the final third; defensive skills, including tackling and distribution in the back third; speed training; fitness; and goal keeping. MPS functional training instructors are an elite group-some of the area's top names in soccer and fitness training.

DC United's Y-League goalkeeper coach, provides the serious goalkeeper with all the tools, necessary training and confidence. Some of the topics covered include ball handling, deflecting, breakaways, boxing, two goal drills, catching, pressure training, angle play, handling crosses, penalty kicks, diving, distribution, MLS shootout, individual five-aside (reading the game), and goalkeeper wars.
